Hello, friends new and old. This is a meme so we can get to know each other a bit better (and, if last night was anything to go by, so that I have something entertaining to read at 4 am :-/) Come and comment here and I will ask you FIVE EXCITING FANDOMMY QUESTIONS. Probably. I might just ask dull stuff about your favourite cheese, or nosy things about your sex life

Or, if you are feeling shy, or are naturally the inquisitive type yourself, you can ask ME five questions.

IT'S VERY EXCITING. We can pretend we are in the Slytherin Common Room playing Truth or Dare. WHO'S GOING TO BE FIRST?

Title: Someone to Watch Over Me
Author: [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Word count: ~900
Rating: R
Warnings: dub-con, BDSM, voyeurism. Unbetaed - written in haste, to be repented at leisure!
Summary: Harry had thought agreeing to go home with Malfoy was risky enough in itself, without adding in extra complications.
Author's Notes: for [livejournal.com profile] marianna_merlo. Happy Birthday, my dear! I really tried to put on my big girl's pants and write something that was up your street. *Points excitedly at dub-con warning* It's still far far too tame, of course, but I hope it might make you smile anyway. *shakes head* Poor Harry.

Edited to add: AUGH, I have spent half an hour trying to fix the paragraphs on here, but LJ does not want it to have paragraphs, and I am now beyond caring. So sorry. Hope it's still readable :-(

I am excited to share these two fics from the [livejournal.com profile] mini_fest since reveals went up today. There were some great fics and pieces of art there, so please go and have a look if you didn't follow the fest at the time.

My first fic for mini_fest was:

Title: After Hours at the Ministry of Magic
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Prompt: #124 - Co-workers trapped / stuck alone together on Christmas Eve. Griping leads to something better. Dear [livejournal.com profile] fantasyfiend09 I loved your wonderful prompt and hope you don't mind that I took a few liberties with it.
Word Count: 11,500
Rating: NC-17
Notes: Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] who_la_hoop[livejournal.com profile] marianna_merlo, and most of all [livejournal.com profile] omi_ohmy for the astonishing amounts of help you cheerfully gave me with this. I was flailing around in the dark, ladies, and you turned the lights on.
Summary: It isn't precisely how Harry planned to spend Christmas Eve: trapped in a lift with his ex-boyfriend, somewhere between the third and the fourth floors of the Ministry of Magic.

I adored the prompt about Harry and Draco being stuck at work together, but when I sat down to write the story, instead of the fluffy, amusing little tale I had imagined, something altogether more flangsty and awkward poured out. I was horrified, and tried to wrestle it back into fluffy submission, but when my betas saw it, they told me to get rid of all the jokey, light stuff I had thrown in, and... well, eventually, this emerged. People have been very encouraging about it, which is wonderfully kind, but I will be honest: it was such a torment to me I would have been happy to delete the fucker at some points :D

My other fic for mini_fest was the second story I ever wrote. By contrast, this one just whooshed out of me in a great joyous splurge. I wish trying to write was always like this. It felt as if this unrepentant, spoilt, shamelessly egotistical, vain and self-deluding Draco lodged in my head and wouldn't leave, during the hours I was writing it. He was a bloody delight to be inhabited by. This is far and away my favourite thing I have written, so I hope you like it too, if you try it.

I wrote it a few months ago and had it saved carefully to bring out at Christmas. Mini_fest seemed like a perfect place to share it. Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] kitty_fic for modding a great fest that was exactly as stress-free as advertised!

Title: The Twelve Days of Draco
Pairing: Harry / Draco
Word Count: ~3000
Rating: R for language and innuendo, although nothing explicit
Notes: Thank you very much indeed to [livejournal.com profile] omi_ohmy, both for the lovely cheerleading, and the comma (which I don't know if I actually put in!!)
Summary: Draco really deserves a better class of mystery admirer. Who on earth would be smitten enough to keep sending him all these ridiculous presents? And will he ever remember who he was kissing at Blaise's party?

E.T.A. the spacing seems to have gone all shonky on this entry and I don't know how to fix it. :o( Any ideas?

I am expecting my flist to erupt with squee about this fic at any minute, so I am trying to get in first ;-)

The latest longish fic at [livejournal.com profile] hd_holidays is an absolute CORKER. Give yourself a real treat and read it today. It's got depth, wonderful layers of plot, wicked humour, delicious smut, brilliantly assured writing, perfect supporting characters and the most beautifully believable Harry and Draco. I am going to compose an epic comment for the author when I am more coherent, but just wanted to come and tell you all immediately.

This fic made staying up half the night with a poorly baby an absolute JOY, and I am quite tempted to go and read it a second time, straight away. I think I fell in love with Harry and Draco all over again. I don't want to spoil you at all, but I am dying for everyone to read this so that I can cackle with you over the early scenes where we find out what Draco has been taught about dealing with Muggles. So we can grin over all the brilliant moments of warmth and humour. And so that I can cling to you during all the parts that made my heart ache. ♥ Please read it, now. That is all.

Fearless

WOW, I was so excited to see this gorgeous piece of art at [livejournal.com profile] mini_fest yesterday. I was up far too late, and basically ended up dribbling all over the comments page, but it was such a great surprise to see someone had made art from my prompt, and such beautiful art too. ♥

Title: "Caught in Your Glow"
Artist: ???
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Prompt: Prompt:
"My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends -
It gives a lovely light." - from a poem submitted by [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore
Art Medium: Photoshop CS6
Rating: PG

I have seen this artist's work before and always LOVED her Harry, with his gorgeous, strong, masculine profile, but I don't think I have ever seen her draw this pairing before. Draco has an equally powerful face, and I love the challenging look they are exchanging. The poem I used for the prompt, is by a favourite poet of mine, Edna St. Vincent Millay. I woke up one morning with the lines running through my head and one of those weird obsessive fangirl feelings that it was connected to Harry / Draco somehow. I love the way the artist has interpreted the poem. ♥ Go and see it!

Come and look at this beautiful drawing of Hagrid and Madame Maxime celebrating Christmas together. I defy anyone not to feel all Christmassy in their hearts after seeing this.

Title: Finally Free at [livejournal.com profile] mini_fest
Artist: Anon at the moment
Pairing: Rubeus Hagrid/Madame Maxime
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Summary: They were finally able to relax and be happy.

Go go go go go and see it! ♥

So you can only see the last 3 pages of entries?

I am guessing they want me to change to the new style, and of course it is tempting, just so I can see what I missed...

[livejournal.com profile] who_la_hoop started this meme (hers had more cocks in it than mine, but still...) The idea is that I get to say ten nice things about people anonymously, and you hopefully get to have the lovely suspicion that I mean you. I do. Especially THAT one.

Please spread the meme of niceness. ♥ I really enjoyed taking the time to think about the people on my flist and the ways in which I appreciate them.

1) You write the most beautiful comments, and I can see how much time and care you put into each one. You really make people feel appreciated and respected.

2) Your work is just GORGEOUS and I don't think you know how much it means to people.

3) You are so lovely and friendly, and even when I was completely shiny new to LJ, you made me feel like part of a community. This fandom is never going to die while people like you are around.

4) I love your energy and the way you aren't afraid to say what you think. You make me laugh and laugh and I'm glad you are never going to be just one of the herd.

5) You seem such a sweet, warm and gentle person. I wish you lived near me and I could sit in your kitchen and drink tea and you could sort out all my problems for me.

6) You write the funniest and hottest fics ever. That is all.

7) You more or less left fandom before I got here and I wish you would come back one day. Your work is a big inspiration to me and I would love the chance to get to know more about you.

8) You are just super-patient and talented and interesting and lovely. Yay!

9) You make me believe Harry and Draco are actual living people, and it makes my heart ache that the real world isn't as beautiful as what you create.

10) I want you to chain me to a wall and make me your H/D writing slave.

Title: Hairway to Heaven
Author: [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore
Rating: NC-17
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, Ron/Hermione
Summary: Harry's desperate for it. A good haircut, that is. And Draco's just dying to give him one.
Warnings/Content Notes: Shameless innuendo, and good honest smut
Word Count: ~12,000
Author's Notes: This was my very first attempt at writing a fic! Thank you so much to [livejournal.com profile] omi_ohmy for the brilliant beta job, and all the encouragement, laughs, and patience while I was writing this. There is no greater kindness anyone can do than laughing at my jokes. Big big thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] marianna_merlo who read this early on, reassured me and gave lots of great advice. Written for the 2012 [livejournal.com profile] hd_fan_fair Harry / Draco Career Fair. What a fabulous first fest to be involved in! Thank you to the mods for making it such a fun experience. ♥

Title: Remember, Remember
Author: [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore
Pairing: Harry / Draco
Word count: 177
Rating: G
Warnings: Er, haiku
Summary: A baker's dozen of haiku, for Bonfire Night
Author's Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] omi_ohmy
Dear Omi: I wanted to write you something to say thank you for all your loveliness. I am frustrated at how flawed these are, when I wanted to write something beautiful for you, but they were written with ♥. I recently learned that haiku can mean 'puff of smoke on the air': I hope you like these puffs of smoke for Bonfire Night.

Title: Trick or Treat
Author: [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore
Pairing: Harry / Draco
Word count: ~2500
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: swearing, a very annoying singing pumpkin
Summary: Draco gets more than he bargained for when one of George's Hallowe'en jokes backfires.
Author's Notes: for [livejournal.com profile] marianna_merlo. Dear Marianna, you make me laugh so much and I wanted to write something to say thank you for all the support you have given me with my writing. And then... this came out of my computer.

Title: Surrender, in its Place
Words: 599
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Author's Note: Written for [livejournal.com profile] sortinghatdrabs prompt #160: Pansy and any Gryffindor
This is my second attempt at writing a drabble, and I enjoyed working on it. I did not quite know myself what Pansy was up to until the end, though I find her character very intriguing and would like to write more about her one day. The quote (and title) was something I found afterwards, but I was delighted at how well it seemed to capture what I was trying to express about Pansy and her motivations, both during the war, and during the scene in this story.

I am promoting the sign up post for writing a drabble about Draco Malfoy and any canon Hufflepuff over at [livejournal.com profile] sortinghatdrabs. I think this is a prompt with a lot of potential for humour or smut, and I am a sucker for any kind of fic with Draco in, so I hope some other people feel tempted by the challenge. You only need to write 100 - 499 words to enter, but be quick - it finishes on Monday at midnight.
