hp_kinkfest began posting yesterday, and here is my piece if you would like to try it. It's the story I was wanting to write when I posted asking for help with dirty talk. The discussion was so helpful and really encouraged me, so I hope the results are reasonably successful.

I suspect it sounds a bit heavy-going from the tags and warnings, but what Harry and Draco do is very consensual, as well as very kinky, if that reassures anyone.

Happy New Year, everybody! I've been in a bit of a funny mood, so I haven't been around much, but things are definitely getting better. I want to post some recs and stuff later, and hope to be commenting a bit more and generally right in your face again.

However, I read and loved saras_girl's amazing advent fic, Helix. If you haven't caught up with this, it's an utter treat and full of SG's usual lovely mix of humour, hope, heart and hotness. Plus, SNAILS. Harry and Draco have to work together (love that trope) to protect the endangered frost snails, which can breed at Hogwarts only under very delicate conditions. The snails themselves are utterly gorgeous and inspired me to commit embroidery. I started this for SG's birthday, so you can see how long it took me *head desk*. I failed to make the snails as sparkly and magical as SG describes, and it turned out to be beyond my skills to photograph the glitteriness anyway, but I enjoyed taking a break from the kerfuffle of Christmas to try.

Dear saras_girl, thank you for another beautiful advent story. Reading each installment of your fic in bed was sometimes the only calm moment in a rather long day, and I fell for your snails hard. I do hope you like this! I'll send it off to you as soon as I get to the post office. ♥

I'm just.... WHOA. The cut out covers are so stark and bold. I love their simplicity but they are also so cunning in their design. I'd REALLY like to see them in real life - I want to run my fingers over the cut out and poke my fingers in the holes.

Then... they glow in the DARK? *thunk* I'm in love with these books before I've even seen the inside. Look at the effect on the endpapers! OMG! It's like an erotic experience just from paper.

The illustrations are super nice, also, with beautiful textures, and I adore the way that they incorporate pop ups and moving parts.

I WANT THESE BOOKS! So much. ♥ I wonder if she'll auction them, or keep them forever so she can take them out and stroke them possessively and a little bit creepily every morning, like I would do.

I wondered if anyone would be able to please pop a little Christmas hat on my bird icon for me?

I am shit at such things but I would love to be all festive for December. ♥

I had an idea for a story and it would probably involve a lot of dirty talking and general filthiness. Then I realised that this is something I really struggle with.

What, in your opinion, makes dirty talking hot in fic? Are there things that just don't work for you when you're reading it? What is your favourite kind to read? Have you got a favourite story that involves dirty talk? And, if you're a writer, can you give me any tips? Because I sort of stink at it. I do try, because I know it's great when it works, but I usually fail and have to be bailed out by a beta. I got several compliments on a filthy line in a recent fic and it was actually raitala's doing, LOL.

I even feel awkward READING dirty talk, often, because I'm not always sure how I feel about people calling each other slut and so on, and I'm not fond of porny descriptions of dripping holes. So I basically need a Dirty Talk primer. Can you help? Thank you!

Made For My Collar is the latest entry at hd_fanart. God, but it's lovely. Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time, a certain fandom treasure made this astonishing thing: First Catch Your Dragon (H/D, PG-13). A smitten birds adored it so much that I wrote a fic for it: Turning the Tables (H/D, PG-13, themes of D/s). I then prompted a scene from that fic for the art fest (is your head spinning, yet?). And a nameless, wonderful person has done this with it:
