Rectober aims to celebrate reccing, reading, enjoying, commenting, sharing and discussion about fic, art and other fanworks during the month of October.

Why not take part in Rectober by pledging to make a certain number of rec posts during October? We also hope you'll encourage other reccers by commenting on their posts. ♥

All fandoms, pairings, genres and ratings are welcome! Bring on the recs!

Feel free to poke about at their journals and look for recs. Hopefully there'll be a rectober tag to assist you!
How to rec:

This is totally up to you - you can rec however you like. But if you're not sure how to get started, here is a reccing template, with the usual type of info. These are suggestions only. Some people like to write a lot, and include excerpts, but a simple link to the fic with a sentence or two about why you enjoyed it can be just as useful.

You can rec on your own journal, or at reccing communities, or cross post to both.

hd_storyroom is a reccing comm devoted to Harry/Draco, and they are happy to receive recs from any poster. If you know of others for your fandom / pairing feel free to promote in the comments.

You can rec fic, art, podfics, fanvids, meta posts, or any other fanworks.

If you post to your own journal, if possible please leave the post unflocked so that it's available to everyone. We'll have an ongoing list of contributors, so If you use a Rectober tag when you're reccing, it makes it easy for people browse those journals and track down rec posts.

If you don't want to write recs yourself:

You can still take part in Rectober by reading and commenting. It's great to let a reccer know if you enjoyed reading a fic they recced, or even if you haven't read the fic yet but just like the sound of it from their post.

Also, if you enjoy a fic that's been recced to you, you can let the writer know in a comment that you came to it via a rec. Often people feel like nobody reads their recs! I have heard this many times, and it sometimes puts people off writing rec posts.

I'm in!

MY GOAL: I am hoping to make 2 posts a week, one for each of my OTPs (I actually have way more than that, but I would literally be here all day otherwise lol). I'm also going to try and rec both a fic and some art/a fanvid for each one, and make a bit of a thing about it, because I like procrastinating by making things pretty instead of doing actual work, LOL!

i had so much fun with this last year that i want to do it again this year. :D

i have small goals this year because uni and work is super crazy this year (it's my final year in uni, so master's thesis coming up and all...) so i don't have as much time for fic reading as i'd like. (i've barely read any fic at all the past two months, it's horrible.)

so i'm going to be aiming at 1-5 recs a week, probably posting sundays.

rs_games will be posting soon, so my recs will be focused on that fest, with maybe a few other things thrown in.

My goal is to make a rec post once a week and that this rec post contains a minimum of 2 recs. To make the stakes higher, I also challenge myself to make femmeslash reccs :D

How do you feel about recs on tumblr? I'm trying to get my tumblr rec blog active again...

Also, HP only, or are we multi-fandom?

I'll aim for three per week... ideally I'll do more, but yeah. Three per week would be good!
