I realised I missed a fic I wanted to rec at dracotops_harry! It's the fest that keeps on giving ;-)

Title: Transformation
Summary: Draco Malfoy is assumed lost in the Forbidden Forest, Harry is a sucker for mothers, so he promises Narcissa Malfoy to look for her son. Things happen.

I really liked this - it's intense, and mysterious, and has a wonderful creeping, unease about it, but also a sort of odd beauty. The atmosphere of the Forbidden Forest and its inhabitants are described so vividly, and, I thought, with great originality. It kept surprising me (in a good way) all the way through. Definitely worth a read.

And, I was a bit tired to do much reading last night, so I spent a happy evening browsing on deviantart. I found some very nice Dracos that I mostly hadn't seen before:

Draco and Harry, or as the artist says, the ship is really Draco / Harry / architecture. :DD This could be my OT3? It's PG for kissing. I like this very much - the sense of place, their hair, the pose, the arches... in my mind, they're older, here, and Hogwarts professors, or something, and they've gone for a walk in the moonlight and forgotten that they are too old to be snogging in corridors any more...

From the same artist: Snape and Draco - Consolation - PG, for some blood on clothes and floor. Set in the bathroom immediately post-Sectumsempra. I like Draco's vulnerability and the way Snape is caring for him.

Draco Pansy Kiss - PG-13 for a rather raunchy kiss. HET! Shock horror. I love Draco's elegance but also the way he is so obviously into the kiss, and Pansy's bare thigh above her sock is delicious.

Draco - Gen. Well, how about THIS, slightly older Draco? (He looks older to me than the 22 the artist suggests). He's kind of perfect, in lots of ways. Now, if he had a kneeling naked Harry in front of him... I love his nonchalance and slightly challenging expression.

Whereas this Draco (Gen) looks young and uncertain. And the fact that he's divinely beautiful doesn't hurt.

Here's a darling Draco (Gen) who has fallen asleep in a heap of cuteness with Teddy.

And finally, here's a Draco who is totally going to fail that exam: Exams soon. NSFW at all. Tut tut! Rimming. Harry/Draco. I love the way his shirt is rucked up, and the tension in his gorgeously poised arms and legs.

Such lovely art!! I was surprised by how much I loved the Draco/Pansy one. Especially the graffitti on the wall they're sitting on: the D+P in a little heart, and below that "Harry stinks." lol But Draco is so beautifully drawn in this, his pose and how he's leaning into her and his Adam's apple and exposed neck make him seem just a little bit vulnerable and how he's just so into the kiss. And then he figures out that girls don't really do it for him and goes off to find Harry and they live happily ever after, the end.

I know! I would never normally look at Draco/Pansy; it's not something I'm interested in, at all, but I like the way on deviantart it shows you little thumbnails of things you MIGHT like, and I thought, mmmm, I think I DO like that, actually.

I agree, one day this will be a dim and distant memory of his mis-spent youth. In fact the very next day, there he is in the Quidditch changing rooms... see nenne's art link in above comment ;-)

I love arts.
1. The architecture is really lovely and professionally sketched ... Draco and Harry are beautiful as always. They look very happy and absorbed in their love.
2. I often laugh that most authors accept that Servius is Draco's godfather, but this picture just leaves me just with that feeling - for an older man who is truly concerned about a boy who is not his son, but he feels paternal to him.
3. Recently I read a story where Draco has a son with Pansy ... Anyway finally Draco hooks up with Harry, the boy is a perfect mix of both of them with short black hair and gray eyes. Maybe this story started with this picture. ;)
4. He is handsome, but definitely he isn't 22 more like 42 :D

6. This is lovely I even opened a story, which in comments someone said to be perfect for this picture. Every story that even slightly resembles this picture for me would be perfect. I love Draco / Harry with Teddy.

Oh, so glad you enjoyed the art! I love your thoughts on these pictures. I really liked finding the different Dracos, each showing varying aspects to his character, and each one beautiful in its own way.

The artist for the first two is an old favourite of mine from way back- it's funny how many names you recognise once you've been on DA for long enough ;) She's got a great comic, if you like knights and such.

One of my favourite things about fanart will always be seeing so many different renditions of the same character.

Oh, yeah, I did see the comic, but I was concentrating on fanart, to get points for Writ's comment-a-thon ;-) I'll go back and look another time.

I realise I don't spend a lot of time on DA just browsing... I want to do more of it, definitely. I might do a Harry post next.

Which one do you think looks like Tom F? The older lounging on the sofa one?

I don't think it's odd; I feel the same (although none of these look enough like him to be a problem to me) I love the films, but I want fanart to show things that are in the artist's head.

The lounging sofa, yeah. It's in the mouth. Tom F has a very distinct mouth.

You're right. I kept looking at him and thinking , 'well, a little bit like Tom...nah, not really,', but if you look at the mouth, it's totally him.
