When is the fest running?
We're here all week, from Feb 7th to Feb 14th. Please drop in regularly to leave love and see what else has been left.

How do I leave love for a character?
It's entirely up to you, but here are some examples, for your inspiration. So, for instance, if you're feeling a lot of love for Ron this week, go to his thread HERE and leave your contribution as a comment.

You could post explaining that you've always liked a man with a freckly arse. You could draw a sketch of Ron doing his bad-ass Auror thing. You could write a drabble featuring Ron just being Ron, a kinky PWP, or a 100k Gen rated kid!fic. You could cosplay as Ron and post a photo. Sculpt your interpretation of Ron's face in mashed potato. Or eat a bacon sandwich in his honour and then compose a haiku about how delicious it was. What about some Ron-centric recs? Ron icons, favourite quotes connected to Ron, a Ron fanmix, Ron's name written in fairy lights – if you can think of it, then DO IT.

Leave a description of your contribution in the subject line. Eg, RON: FANMIX, RON: HAIKU, or RON: DRABBLE or just RON: LOVE if it's just general love.

Commenting on other people's contributions, and general chit-chat, is firmly encouraged. Will this mean the threads get a little crazy? WHO KNOWS. :D

What is and isn't allowed?
You can write any pairing, or gen, any length, any genre, any rating. Please use warnings appropriately. Content does not have to be fluffy by any means, but character bashing would not be appropriate at this fest. If you have any doubts, just ask me or capitu.

I've written a 20k fic for the fest, is that OK?
:DDD OF COURSE. If there's anything that you want to host on your own journal, just leave the link in the comment thread.

I can't find a thread for Aunt Marge / Griphook / Trevor! Are only certain characters eligible for love?
Please check the masterlist first, HERE. I'll try to keep the masterlist updated as much as possible, but I do have to sleep and stuff, so please skim through the latest comment threads as well, to see if someone else has begun one for your character. If Aunt Marge or whoever has been cruelly neglected so far, please start your own thread, putting their name in the subject line.

As to who's eligible: EVERYONE. If they feature in the Harry Potter series, they qualify for the fest.

My fanwork deals with more than one character, where shall I put it?
GOOD QUESTION. Did you feel inspired with love for one of the characters more than the others, perhaps? If not... if it's a pairing fic, say Neville / Luna, you could post it on Neville's thread, and leave a link to it on Luna's thread. If it's, say a drawing of the Lestranges, start a thread titled “The Lestrange family” and put it on there. If you still don't know where to put it, just ask me or capitu, or just do something different entirely, if you like; we won't shout at you.

Am I only meant to leave love for my favourite character?
No! Leave love for as many people as you like! You have the whole week to shower as many HP characters as you wish with love. You could even challenge yourself and try to appreciate a character you haven't really given much thought to before.

TEN REASONS WHY I LOVE YOU HARRY:
(From Draco's POV)

1. The entire time they'd spoken, Draco had watched Potter, and finally those nomadic eyes wandered up to meet his own. A second passed, and then two and something, electricity or magic or perhaps it was as simple as recognition, hovered between them in the air. And then Potter's eyes closed and slowly reopened, and with his shy smile—Merlin, it might just kill Draco—he leaned forward and said, "The bangers and mash and Shepherd's pie here are the best I've ever had. 2. If he’d known he was going to see Potter, he would have stayed sober and hard because if there was one thing that Draco had learned in the months that he and Potter had been doing whatever it was they were doing, it was that Potter was dangerous. He’d always known that to some degree, of course, known that Potter had some kind of weird hold over him that made him do stupid things to get his attention or prove him wrong. But that was before he’d known this Potter, the one that came to him in the middle of the night and wrung pleasure from him until Draco was mindless and shaking and begging for release. The Potter who knew all of Draco’s secrets, who drew Draco’s emotions out of him as easily as drawing water from a well. The Potter who lingered in the back of Draco’s mind, who left traces on his body, sense memories that would appear at random, the feeling of lips on the nape of his neck, of fingertips along the inside of his arm, of breath ghosting over the curve of his arse. 3. Alarmed, Draco watches him wander out of sight, hands shoved in the pockets of yet another worn-thin pair of jeans. Beneath the trailing frayed hems, he notes that today, one sock is blue and the other has black and white stripes. 4. Three nights later Draco has just finished brushing his teeth when the hinges of the front door creak. The toothbrush clatters onto the sink, then he's rushing through the hall, a small voice in his mind telling him he ought to be more careful, stay behind with his wand and wait so the advantage is on his side. But the wards are keyed to let only one person through without sounding an alarm. Draco stops in the door frame, reaching out to steady himself because Harry's standing on the other side of the room, seemingly unharmed. He's wearing the jeans Draco hates because they have holes in them and an old Weasley jumper and his hair is sticking up in all directions and Draco needs to take three rapid breaths because Harry's never looked as gorgeous before. 6. Draco had always pictured his own magic as a well, deep and cool. He’d always known that Harry was more powerful, and so had imagined Harry’s magic as a sprawling lake or a rushing stream. He was wrong. Utterly, entirely, completely wrong. Harry’s magic was like an ocean, a sea in storm, a tempest, wild and capricious and boundless, and Draco could have gladly drowned himself in it, sunk down to the bottom and drunk it all in and let it consume him from the inside out.

He shuddered as he remembered the sensation of being immersed in Harry’s magic, how it felt to pull it in until it saturated every inch of him. He still couldn’t believe it, couldn’t believe that Harry walked around with that inside him and acted like it was somehow normal. That he laughed at Weasley’s stupid jokes and drank overly-sweet tea and made futile attempts at taming his horrible hair, and all the while he had that tempest raging inside him. I was inspired by capitu's reasons why she loves quotes :) I spent a happy hour on DA picking these. Could't find a perfect Blaise, which may need to be remedied.

my favorite Harry pairing is Harry Potter/Romilda Vane. Fandom needs more of it.

Reasons why I love Harry:

*I love how despite all the abuse he went through with the Dursleys he was still able to express such amazing love and empathy and compassion for other people (Hagrid, Dobby, Ron, , Neville, etc)

*How despite having his moments/issues (including to what I theorize was probably influence from the piece of voldemort's soul inside him) he was still an amazing and caring friend (His immediate forgiveness of Ron, him checking sure Hermione is okay (PoA/HBP)

*He's very witty.

*He's brave and is willing to sacrifice everything for others.

*The fact that he can forgive people (Dumbledore, Dudley,etc)

*that he plays Quidditch and is good at it.

*His resourcefulness and strength.

*His small romantic side ("she looked like the sunrise (or something like that-CoS).

His beautiful, beautiful eyes.

*Lastly, I think that despite some physical differences (Eye color, body type?) Daniel Radcliffe was a perfect Harry. (and he also has beautiful, beautiful eyes)

I can't recommend lightofdaye ENOUGH.

he writes such a flawless and understantingly sexy Harry and all his fanfictions are a delight and pleasure to read. he has written several of my now favorite harry pairings.
plus, he's british.

Definitely recommend him to everyone. (he won't jump ships though- warning on that)

He's amazing! I found him through someone's rec list a long time ago and he was just what I wanted to find in a hp fic writer.

He only writes Het with the occasional femmeslash, which is probaby why he isn't so well-known.

hope that doesn't puts you off, because his work is really, really good.
