Announcing the Draco Malfoy Birthday Love Fest!

Please join me for a week of Draco love and appreciation, in honour of his 33rd birthday on June 5th.

What is happening at the Love Fest? Whatever you like! Please bring your drabbles, prompts, arts, gifs, quotes, squee, meta, and general flailing. Contributions can be slash, het or gen, any pairing, maybe even a crossover, as long as Draco features. Anything from a few words about why you enjoy the character of Draco, or a gif that you thought was cute, to a multi-chapter fic (well, I can be optimistic, can't I?). ALL CONTRIBUTIONS WILL BE ADORED. You don't have to restrict yourself to Perfect!Redeemed!Draco love, either; feel free to celebrate him in all his snarky, spoiled, unrepentant, irritating and glorious nastiness, if you so wish. Just warn for the usual things, if you feel like going dark or kinky.

Everyone is welcome; please don't be shy, just jump in. If no-one else comments, I will just fill up the thread by myself. :D Please post any contributions as a comment to this post, with a relevant title so people can navigate the fest more easily. eg. Prompt: Harry/Draco, or Fill: Draco/Hermione, or My favourite quotes about Draco or My favourite Draco fanart, or whatever it is you want to share.

The Love Fest will run here from June 2nd to June 10th. Do spread the word with a banner! Choose from happy-rainbow-sparkly-fluff Draco, or moody-black-shirt-and-cheekbones Draco. Or take them both, to make yourself an amazing DRACO SANDWICH. :DD

Oddities and Human-Nature
Based on a Knockturn Alley prompt


Casting a Disillusionment charm on himself and backing it up with a Notice-Me-Not, as he often did, Draco entered Knockturn Alley. He couldn’t afford to be seen lurking there anymore. He’d come too close to losing everything in the war. He didn’t consider himself a dark wizard. Not really. Or at least, not since that moment in the Room of Hidden Things when, in the space of a few moments, all things became crystal clear. He was just a keen observer of human-nature and he’d done plenty of observing when the Dark Lord and numerous Death Eaters had made themselves at home in the Manor a few years ago.

Making his way to Borgin and Burkes, he leaned against the stone wall and watched wizards and the occasional witch enter and exit. Some, he observed, slinking down the space between the shop and the seedy pub next door, to what he knew was the back entrance. The shop still held immense fascination for him. It always had; cluttered with so very many oddities and unusual artifacts. He no longer felt the need to possess them. No, they merely fascinated him now. Cringing a little, Draco thought back on the incident with the Hand of Glory. That had been a colossal lapse of good judgement.

He moved to a vantage point across the street and squatted down to rest his legs. Forty minutes later, a cloaked figure clutching a small satchel scuttled between the buildings, no doubt heading for the back entrance. Fool, he thought. She wasn’t even subtle. He waited. Minutes later, several young Aurors, Potter among them, arrived and entered the shop. Draco heard the angry shouting and a small scuffle. Deciding that it was time to make himself scarce, Draco moved away and made his way out into Diagon Alley and Apparated home. He smirked to himself, knowing that when Harry returned home that night, his lover would have a story to tell.

Oh, I love the atmosphere of this and the unexpected ending! It gave me a really funny feeling to read this as well, because I'd just written an entry in my "Draco's diary" fic where Draco is spying on Harry in an alleyway. Must just be a great scenario, LOL.

Thanks!! I love the weird atmosphere of Knockturn Alley. So very many possibilities. I wrote this one when there was an HD LDWS fest. While I didn't enter the fest, it was fun to write drabbles along with the fest just for myself.
