Title: Clone Wars
Author: [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore
Rating: PG-13
Word count: ~2100
Characters: A lucky dip of fandom favourites
Summary: They met in the dingy back room of a shady-looking pub in Knockturn Alley: a Frost Giant, a consulting detective, an Academy Award-winning actor... and a pointy git.
Warnings: Crossover. Unbetaed. One of those ideas you have at 4 am, then wake up and say 'naaaah.' Except I went ahead and wrote it.

A/N: For the delicious [livejournal.com profile] who_la_hoop, on her birthday. I was going to say that this is probably the most ridiculous thing I have ever written, but, who am I kidding? This is, without question, the most ridiculous thing I have ever written, inspired by many a conversation with Ms Hoop herself. So, basically, yeah, blame her. :D

But first....

~~ Further to the discussions about concrit etc etc (don't worry, I have absolutely zero desire to stir it all up again) I need to tell you I made some changes to my rec post for [livejournal.com profile] megyal's gorgeous fic Truffles, Noble Lord of the Sky, and added an email that megyal sent me and asked to have included. It's here: http://birdsofshore.livejournal.com/49092.html

~~ Furthermore, [livejournal.com profile] megyal, who is spoiling us this month, has written a gem of a story for my choice of trope: "forced bed sharing." O, forced bedsharing, how do I love thee? This fic is full of her usual poetry and magic, and at under 2k, it's a delicious treat. I read it twice and some of the lines made me stop and read them again and again because they are just so rich and fine.

Just my usual kind of post blethering about fannish things and pointing at things I found amusing. :D

I read Hitchhiker's with my son... )

Bit of stuff about H/D fests... )

Finally if you made it through all that, (or if you just want to skip straight to the funny part):

Funny videos, yay! )

I know it can be a bit icky when people show actors fanart and such of the characters they play. However I think I love Mark Ruffalo a little bit after reading this:

"MARK RUFFALO KNOWS WHAT SCIENCE BROS IS, SHIPS IT"

He seemed so genuinely delighted by the whole concept, I found it strangely heart-warming. I've seen actors confronted before on talk shows or at cons, and they usually take it in good part, but then they're trying to appear likeable and funny, so it's hard to know how they actually feel about the subject. I know Tom Felton always seems amused by the things fandom comes up with, and often makes jokes about Drarry or Drapple. However I can think of other actors for whom this must have been a cringy situation.

What do you think about people having fandom thrust upon them like this? It seems sort of disrespectful, but then the interview above shows it can be a thing of joy... And, incidentally, do you ship Science Bros? I don't follow the Avengers at all, but Mark Ruffalo (is it just me who always wants to say Mark Gruffalo? :D) and RDJ are both so cute, I could be easily persuaded...
