Fic: One Night at the Leaky (H/D, PG-13, 12.5k)

A bit late, I know, but I'm claiming my [livejournal.com profile] hd_fan_fair fic. \o/

Title: One Night at the Leaky
Author: [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore
Inspired by Pottermore entry: #C4. Gamp's Old Gregarious Beer
Rating: PG-13
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, background Hermione/Ron, Seamus/Dean
Warnings/Content Notes: Post Hogwarts, drinking games, Truth or Dare, drunkenness, tomfoolery, UST.
Summary: Harry should have known better than to accept a drunken dare. Especially when Malfoy was sitting right there, looking like that and wearing those bloody tight trousers.
Word Count: ~12.5 k

A/N: I do love [livejournal.com profile] hd_fan_fair. Somehow the prompts always make me want to write something funny and light. This one came after two fics that were quite tough for me in different ways, and it was such a refreshing change. The only problem was that, after Euphoria, I had absolutely zero smut left in me. So, be warned, there is no bumming in this. No kink. Not even a hardening cock. Sorry! People very kindly forced themselves to read it anyway. :D

Thanks so much to [livejournal.com profile] fantasyfiend09 for her help and advice, and to [livejournal.com profile] writcraft for her patience and support with my last minute panics.

Rectober is all Rectover

I've been waiting a month to use that title :D

Oh, Rectober! What a month it was. So full of bounteous recs in so many fandoms, pairings, genres and lengths. Some people managed to do it daily. Others just the once. THEY WERE ALL BEAUTIFUL. \o/ Each one a little poem of love for a creator, a little signpost in the dark for a lost reader looking for a happy place to go. ♥

Thank you to each and every reccer, for each and every rec! The divine [livejournal.com profile] capitu has made you a little token of appreciation, from all of us readers. And she even did the coding for me, because she is a true Hufflepuff. Please find them below, clutch them to your bosoms, grab the html and display on your journals with pride.

If you're looking for recs, why not browse the journals of those who took part. See the amazing list below. Many of them have a Rectober tag, to make your life easier, so you can get straight to the good stuff.

And if you didn't manage to take part in Rectober this year, don't forget that recs are loved all year round. ♥

Take a bow, reccers all (and if I missed you off, please poke me! So sorry but with one thing and another I completely admit that the admin got away from me this year!):

Rectober, week 3: Golden Age by anon (R, 52k, H/D)

Title: Golden Age
Author: Anonymous
Inspired by Pottermore entry: B8. The Hufflepuff Common Room
Rating: R
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco; off-camera: Hermione/Pansy
Warnings/Content Notes: Environmentalism, alternative religion (or lack there of), unshakable socialism, food, hugs, a secret society, and perhaps some very interesting Muggleborns – it’s just a huge, liberal, Hufflepuff party.
Summary: The Celtic druids once made a decision that kept magic in abundance in Britannia, but they couldn’t account for the technological advances Muggles would make centuries later. Now magic is dying on the isles, and this is not a dark lord that Harry can fight. OR: Harry Potter doesn’t save the world this time, but he does get a lot of hugs.

Golden Age )

I hope Rectober is going well for you? I apologise for not having time to do much Rectober housekeeping at all this year, but I see wonderful recs here, there, and everywhere, and I still hope to come through with a list of contributors when it's all over.

Rectober week 2: What the Werbeland Wind Blew In by khalulu (H/D)

I have such a glorious, gorgeous treat for you! If you haven't read this already, don't resist - give yourself half an hour of pure pleasure while you enjoy this lovely fic.

Title: What the Werbelande Wind Blew In
Author: [livejournal.com profile] khalulu
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Word Count: 4175
Rating: R
Warning(s): none
Summary: A snowstorm blows a pale and pointy person into Harry’s coffee shop, and brings poetry (mostly medieval) into his life. And then there’s the flying cock monster, the penis tree, and the warrior rabbits.

This was just 4175 words of joy. I read it in bed and nearly woke up small people snoozing next to me because of laughing. Proper, shoulder-shaking laughing. And the romance! My heart!  I never before knew how much I needed a coffee shop fic where Draco is a mediaeval poetry student and he and Harry banter and snark divinely. And then Harry starts researching, in order to impress Draco, but of course he's completely and utterly obvious about it, and Draco is deliciously smug, and then Harry says... But you'll have to read it to find out exactly what made me hoot with laughter, past midnight, when I really should have been sleeping.

[livejournal.com profile] khalulu is such a wonderfully skilled writer, and this story is full of warmth and poetry and romance and intelligence and humour and delicious sauciness. That's not even mentioning the end notes about the Flying Cock Monster. I feel like I ate this fic up with a spoon and licked my lips at the end. The whole thing is so rich, and it's only 4000 words! I only wish there was another 50k of Harry and Draco flirting in coffee shops and then succumbing to the inevitable, overwhelming sexual tention between the two of them that jumps off the screen.

Excerpt: I want to quote the whole darn thing, I mean, REALLY, the whole darn thing, but I also don't want to spoil it for you. So here's just a teeny piece of its loveliness.

Please let me know if you try this one! I'd love for it to get all the love it deserves.

Rectober is here \o/

Please join us for a month of recs!

Rectober aims to celebrate reccing, reading, enjoying, commenting, sharing and discussion about fic, art and other fanworks during the month of October.

Why not take part in Rectober by pledging to make a certain number of rec posts during October? We also hope you'll encourage other reccers by commenting on their posts. ♥

All fandoms, pairings, genres and ratings are welcome! Bring on the recs!

Click here for list of participants \o/

The above link is where I'll be compiling a list of people reccing on LJ. I won't be linking to people reccing on tumblr, twitter or other sites this year, partly because I don't have the time, and partly to encourage traffic here on LJ.

I hope you'll support Rectober here on LJ, the place where it began, by posting your recs here and not just linking to your recs on other sites. It would be wonderful to see LJ buzzing with recs this month. ♥

I'll update the list through the month as people sign up. Feel free to poke about at these reccers' journals and look for recs. Hopefully there'll be a rectober tag to assist you!

I hope you enjoy Rectober, whether you're a reccer, reader, commenter, artist, author or lurker. ♥

Anyone for Rectober?

Hello, lovely flist! It's nearly October and I wondered if anyone fancied a spot of reccing?

banner by [livejournal.com profile] capitu

If you have no idea what Rectober is, the idea is to have a month celebrating recs for fanworks. Participants pledge to post recs, as frequently as they feel they want to, or to support the fest by reading from recs and leaving comments, or commenting on rec posts to let the person know you enjoyed their recs, or any other way you want to join in. We had fun with it in 2013 and 2014.

Anyway! Please click and tick and comment and let me know what you think. In previous years people pledged anything from daily rec posts to one post during the month, so the commitment could be as big or small as you choose.

Rectober will always be multi-fandom, any pairing, any genre, whatever you like.

Fic for lumosed_quill: Asleep (H/D, NC-17, 100 words)

For the most marvellous [livejournal.com profile] lumosed_quill. \o/ Happy birthday, dear! I know we made a pact to write each other birthday drabbles this year, but I must say I do feel this is a puny thing to give you. You gave me a couple of prompts, but my mind latched on to the one about being really tired. I don't think you were even being serious, so, sorry about that. :D

Thank you for your friendship and support, and for the joy that your filthy and beautiful words give us all. I hope the next twelve months bring you success, love and happiness in everything that you do. ♥

Thank you so much to [livejournal.com profile] gracerene and [livejournal.com profile] who_la_hoop for offering advice and soothing my last-minute panics! I've dicked about with it no end, so any mistakes are all my own work.

Fic: Euphoria (see header for pairings and warnings, NC-17, PWP)

Claiming my [livejournal.com profile] hp_crossgenfest fic \o/

Title: Euphoria
Author: [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore
Pairing(s): Draco/Albus Severus, Albus Severus/Scorpius, Draco/Albus Severus/Scorpius *hides face* I'm so sorry.
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~22,500
Content/Warnings: Where do I start? It's a 22k PWP. O_O. Serious consent issues, sex under the influence of alcohol and potions, voyeurism, a threesome, jealousy, a little angst, infidelity kink, orgasm delay, powerplay, wanking, really quite a lot of anal sex, kind-of incest, a tiny bit of H/D UST, age disparity 19/45.
Summary: A fire is prickling in the pit of my belly. I feel a little like I'm watching this happening to someone else. Al's sitting there, reeking of another man's sweat and come. He looks miserable and anxious... but also well-fucked. I look at his mussed hair, his bitten lips. I've never wanted him more.
Author's Notes: Thank you so much to my wonderful betas, [livejournal.com profile] who_la_hoop and [livejournal.com profile] lumosed_quill, for bravely grappling with 20k of my perverted filth. :D Many thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] capitu, for sterling support from the sidelines, and to [livejournal.com profile] gracerene for being super-flexible with deadlines. ♥

Fandom Writers Appreciation Day: August 21, 2015

I love this. \o/ Looking forward to finding some time to participate tomorrow.

Fanfiction Writers Appreciation Day

From tumblr and [livejournal.com profile] lbilover:
The point of this day is simple: on August 21th, writers and readers alike would go on AO3 (or any fanfiction website really [like: LiveJournal]), on Tumblr, and leave a comment on their favourite fics and/or send their authors a message about their works.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve already or never commented. It doesn’t matter if the author doesn’t know about this post. It doesn’t matter if the author already knows how much you love their work.

Just let writers know you love the fics they write for you, simple as that!

And well, don’t forget to keep leaving a kudos and a comment in the future, and make writers happy!

I'm going to try and spread a little love tomorrow. Maybe some of you will, too. ♥

WOW O_O

Somebody really spammed LJ pretty thoroughly, hmm?

*blinks at friends feed*

I don't even get what they're advertising? At first I thought it was an accident, like those nightmares where you post to a comm and for a second you think you've pressed 'post to ALL comms'. But it's lots of different users posting? I'm scared. What if it's somebody taking over other people's accounts to post indecipherable things? WHAT IF I'M NEXT? *clings to flist*

ERISEEEEEEEEEEED

I'm SO happy about my assignment I could cry. Honestly. *hugs self* *hugs everyone* *sniffles incoherently*

The [livejournal.com profile] hd_erised mods are goddesses. How can they match all those disparate people up and somehow make it all WORK?

I really really hope everyone is feeling good about their match. If you're feeling worried, I don't know if it helps, but last year I was pretty intimidated and unsure about writing for the super-fabulous tryslora, but it turned out to be a great experience.

Good luck, everyone!

Ficlet: Never Enough (Harry/various, Harry/socks, R, ~500)

Title: Never Enough
Author: [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore
Pairing: Harry/various (in fantasy), Harry/socks
Rating: R
Word count: ~500
Warnings: Unbetaed
A/N: Written for Harry's birthday. Oh, Harry. I treat you so badly. I torment you and tease you. I encourage Draco to do the most terrible things to you. Sometimes I even let Scorpius join in with the tormenting, and *hangs head* I spent an awful lot of time this year egging Draco on to molest your dear son, Albus. I'm so sorry, Harry. I love you dearly, and yet I do all that, and then, for your birthday, I write... this. Please forgive me. I'll make it all up to you.

I actually blame [livejournal.com profile] who_la_hoop, who, on reading this week's prompt for the [livejournal.com profile] slythindor100 LDWS contest, said, 'I hope you're writing Harry/wank sock?” And was dreadfully disappointed when I said that I wasn't.
