Post of overwhelming birthday love and thanks

Well, it was my birthday last week, and I had the most amazing time. Me and Mr Birds and the boys had a really super family day planned, and that all went well and I'll tell you about it in a bit. And I had a great time later, seeing my friend and going out to the cinema, and that was fabulous, too.

But, the thing that really floored me was the ~~FANDOM LOVE~~. OMG, you chaps really know how to make a person feel special. The internet connection where we were was a bit crappy, but I kept getting bursts of it and then just DYING with laughter or hotness or just perfectness at the things that were happening on LJ. catplusfox just said it was like I was buried in fandom love, and, wow, it's a great thing to be, that's all I am saying.

I have to share all the brilliant things with you. I honestly feel like the luckiest bird ever. Take a deep breath, because it's all too good and too much fun.

lijahlover made me a very thoughtful picspam of gorgeous things from different fandoms. What an excellent way to start the day. ♥

capitu wrote me a letter. OMG. She wrote me a letter which included ALL of the titles of everything I ever wrote (well, the ones I was too stupid to delete off my masterlist, anyway, heh). And the letter made sense. And also was the loveliest and sweetest thing that has ever existed in the history of sweetness. And when I wrote 2 more fics after she had finished writing it, she added them in! And my titles are really quite odd but she still made it all come together and make sense! Whaaaaaaaat? She's the best fandom cheerleader in the world. ♥

The  wonderful lumosed_quill wrote me a gorgeous timestamp for Building Bridges While They Burn (which she wrote for my prompt for dm_asp_fest). Bridging the Gap is super-hot and funny and romantic and touching and there's a touch of poignancy about ageing in there, too, which I particularly enjoyed on my birthday. She knows my kinks too well, this one! I have to keep an eye on her now ;-) ♥

who_la_hoop is an evil genius. I expect you knew this already, but still, she keeps taking it to new heights. She lovingly created H/D manips the like of which I have never seen before and pray that I never will again. They are so... unique, so... profoundly... memorable. I foresee a long and successful career ahead of her selling brain bleach to her unsuspecting victims. ♥

If you have already seen the manips and lived to tell the tale, don't miss the drabbles chibitoaster wrote inspired by them. The combination of the two is unsettlingly hilarious. ♥

And THEN, because making me die laughing on the internet was not enough for Ms Hoop, she also gave me an extremely beautiful and fancy ring. I think it's from one of those exclusive little boutiques, and I look marvellous in it, dahling. ;-) It would never have been a proper birthday without getting thoroughly Nic-rolled. ♥



raitala nearly fucking killed me. She has made the most incredible art for my beloved story, Unguarded. I was completely obsessed with this story when I was writing it, and raitala just egged me on the whole time and it was probably the most fun I've ever had with a keyboard. And THEN, she completely bloody slayed me with art of the most beauteous perfection. I had to look at it through my fingers. The way she has drawn Albus is.... no, I can't. I don't know how to describe the feeling of getting art for a story of your own creation, that looks so utterly right, and you know that person loved it too. AUGH. Dying again. ♥

8c, the utter darling, made me shower art! OMG! This is a follow on to her glorious art which I particularly admired at hd_smoochfest this year. *clutches heart*. Gosh, it's gorgeous, all intense eyes and taut bodies and claspy hands on bums. ♥

chibitoaster made me a bee-yoo-ti-full seaside postcard drawing of Harry and Draco on the beach. It was such a lovely late summer day here, and this art is so cheerful and sunshiney that it felt perfect. I love it, especially Draco's handsome pointiness. ♥

nia_kantorka and candamira wrote me a wonderfully kinky collaboration fic! I am so flattered that they got together to write this for me and it sounds like they also had a whale of a time doing it. Darling dustmouth drew me cake on bottoms. I can honestly say I have never had a cake presented to me on gay wizards' bottoms before. I HADN'T LIVED. And then there is dancing and really, the most wondrously ludicrous poses, and pompoms. I grin with glee every time I think about it, which is often. ♥

sophie_french wrote me a timestamp for her lovely fic The Gentlewizard Club. It's called Stick to the Report and it's just as funny and clever and full of warped Draco-logic as the original. ♥

iwao floored me by very kindly getting me a paid account! I have never had this before and feel utterly spoilt, and swishy, woohoo! ♥

THEN CAREER FAIR HAPPENED. Crikey moses. I'm going to do a Rectober thingy for hd_fan_fair really soon so I will flail at length there, but basically:

1) an astonishing person drew me AdamAnt!Harry and it was all I have ever dreamed of. SO BREATH-TAKINGLY PRETTY I have no words.

And 2) a sneaky, sneaky, marvelous person claimed my toilet salesman prompt and CONNIVED WITH THE MODS to let me think that no-one had claimed it (I shed a few bitter tears over THAT, I can tell you!) and wrote 26k of hilarious, cracky-but-also-not, toilet salesman!Draco fic, and then the delightful, glorious mods posted them both on my birthday. NOT ENOUGH HEARTS IN THE WORLD ♥

And I haven't even listed the very very lovely v gifts and emails and PMs. You are all extremely kind. I sincerely hope I replied to each one, because each one was very much appreciated. My phone was pinging and my heart was twanging all day and it was an absolute ridiculous joy. Thank you very, very much indeed. ♥

If I have missed anything out here, it is because I am a nobber, not because I didn't cherish it.


I was going to also talk about RL stuff that happened that day, but it got too long, so I'll do birthday part 2 very soon.
