I've been watching this creeping up, and today, my fic Hungry is just about to reach 20,000 hits on AO3. \o/ \o/ \o/

I'm not going to lie, I'm sort of thrilled about this, for lots of reasons.

1) I really enjoyed writing Hungry, and I am proud of it. It was the first longer fic I wrote, and it just flowed the whole time. I didn't have many problems with it at all, and I *loved* writing Hogwarts H/D and trying my hand at writing some of the boys' classmates and professors, which I hadn't done before.

2) I have no idea why this particular fic is popular, but most days it gets more Kudos than all of my other stuff on AO3 put together. This makes me smile. Each day when I open my little AO3 notifications thingy, I say to myself, "Mmmhm, going to be Hungry at the top there..." and it always is. Someone explained to me once how AO3 works - as soon as Hungry got a decent number of hits, it would rise up in the search results, and more people would click on it, etc. etc. So I realise it's that, rather than any intrinsic brilliance or anything... but it still makes me beam.

3) Fandom is not dead! And it's not a tiny weeny little niche thing, either. Mr Birds maintains that wanting to read stories about Harry bumming Draco is such an eccentric thing to do, that there are actually only 50 of us in the entire world that are doing it. I must admit, sometimes it feels like that on LJ ;-) (I don't mind, personally, I quite like it!) But on average, a few dozen new people are clicking on this one fic of mine every day. That's got to add up to a big fabulous party full of gay wizard fans world wide. \o/

Unless of course it's ONE of you, reading it morning, noon and night, and refreshing every few minutes. O_o This is what Mr Birds suggested, when I told him. The git.

Anyway! Enough of blowing my own soggy trumpet! I want to celebrate with ALL YOU LOVELY PEOPLE, so I am giving out really crap presents. Please comment below, saying whether you would like:

a) a delicious photo of your crush (you had better tell me who it is, Unless it's me, in which case I'll just KNOW.)

b) a fic rec  - this will be for H/D. Give me a subject, e.g. pining, or polyjuice, or spanking. Or, if you are [livejournal.com profile] capitu, rimming.

c) an art rec - name any pairing or character. Better give me a maximum rating for this one, as well, up to NC-17,

d) a photo of something you like, e.g. beards, or sunsets, or kittens. No porn requests for this one, please. You might get something suggestive, but not NC-17.

e) A photo of Nicolas Cage! (Well, [livejournal.com profile] who_la_hoop might be passing, you never know... :D)

Then just sit back and brace yourself ;-).

Thank you so much for coming to celebrate with me! ♥ ♥ ♥

Yes, I saw him in that. 'Twas fab. I saw him in Peter and Alice and squished him, because I have no decorum at all and I adore him forever ♥

God, I know! It was utterly bonkers. But I managed to get two front row seats from ATG for me and the Monster Boy \o/\o/\o/ I can't flippin wait to tell him :D

I'm always amazed at the people who will fly over for these things when I think it's a lot of effort driving a couple of hours into London, but Mr C will be sooooooooo worth it. Can't wait!!

The ATG thing sucks, tbh. They add on a fee, I'm not entirely sure how much extra it was per ticket (I had total tunnel vision once I got on there), but a lot less than membership cost. Anyway, they seemed to have a good proportion of the stalls seats, which had been listed as sold out on the Barbican website. The link to ATG and the other ticketing agents they'd given tickets to wasn't advertised, I only found out because my reclusive little soul reads Twitter rather than tweeting and word went up pretty quickly from the Cumberbatch tweeters. But imo it's scamming the public, the way they did it.

It sucks and I would be *livid* if I'd paid out for membership. I couldn't afford that at the time and I was quite prepared to be up in the gods or wherever or even to miss out altogether, because that is the way it should work imo, and I think it's pretty nasty to allocate most of the tickets to other agents without saying a word, when people are shelling out for membership specifically to get stalls seats.

To all those who persevered and got tickets, Cumberdork salutes you...
cumberdork

I mean, look at that, who wouldn't want to queue for 13hrs and remortgage their house to swoon at his feet?

And there are obvious dvantages of being in the front row:
