Colossal raitala glomp, with recs

birdsofshoreI've been so looking forward to finding the time to sit and write this rec post. I was so amazingly lucky last week while Let Me Count the Ways was on, that I didn't really know where to put myself. It was just one day of massive excitement after another.

After Hours at the Ministry of Magic
I would have been thrilled to see this gorgeous piece at any time; it's such a treat to see art like this that is so intense and intimate, not to mention hot. I was completely bowled over, though, because it is art for my fic. Bloody hell! It left me breathless and sooooo happy. I don't know if other people feel the same way about getting anything they have written illustrated - I presume so - it's just the BEST thing ever, in my opinion, and a major part of why I'm hoping to attempt the Harry!bang. So, to have art from an artist I have long adored was, well, I've run out of adjectives. It was really QUITE A GOOD DAY :DDD
Please go and have a look at the piece, if you haven't already. I'm desperate to show it off. There's such gorgeous Harry flesh there, and Draco's chest being tentatively revealed from under that rather fine shirt, too. I know everyone thinks I am an insane armpit pervert anyway, but OHMYGOD, when armpits look like this, who can resist? And that's before we've even got to Draco's face. I think raitala always does such wondrously complex expressions. Draco's looking resentful and challenging and covetous and wary and just all of the best things. Do leave him and raitala lots of love if you go to have a look.
Next, raitala, well, she had quite the busy week. :DD Next she podficced my rather ridiculous fic about Luna running a nursery school for the Next Gen kids!
Luna Lovegood's Noisy Nifflers Nursery School
I hardly ever listen to podfics, because my children are usually around, and I always think I won't understand the logistics of it, and that I haven't got time. This is so easy, and it's very short: about 5 mins. You just click and it plays at you. I expect you all knew that, but just in case there are any other technophobes like me out there. :D
Raitala gives my daft little fic a lovely touch of the Joyce Grenfells. She brings it to life beautifully, as events at the nursery get more and more stressful but Luna battles on regardless.
Then came this. I was getting fairly delirious with excitement by this point. I think my endorphins were through the roof the whole week.
I Shall Not Speak
This is raitala's podfic of my Silencio fic. I don't know if I can explain, but it was a really powerful thing for me to hear this. I got lovely comments on this story when I wrote it, and I did have a soft spot for it. Now, I don't know... I actually feel very proud of what I wrote, and that's not something that happens too often. I think the way raitala reads it is completely stunning, the way she interprets the nuances of Draco's emotions, how she lets the power of the words come through. I felt as if I was experiencing it properly for the first time, and it really swept me away.
Please do listen to it if you get a chance. It's a little longer than the other: 11 minutes. If you're not sure if it's your thing, just try the first minute or two, and I hope you'll find you're carried away byDraco's raitala's voice, like I was.
Finally, this is, you may be relieved to hear, nothing to do with any of my fics, but it's such a bloody brilliant thing.

Charlie Weasley is home on holiday from Romania. He just wants to try out that new recipe for vanilla and cherry cookies his mum told him about and settle down to re-read his favourite novel, Middlemarch. But Teddy and Albus and his friend Scorpius Malfoy come round and insist on helping and really Teddy and Scorpius are awfully clumsy and keep dropping things and spilling things and stumbling and having to steady themselves against him. And Albus is in a really foul mood for some reason.
Life is so hard when you are a sensitive and retiring Dragon Keeper, who just wants a bit of peace! "Look, boys ...," Charlie starts to remonstrate.
