When is the fest running?
We're here all week, from Feb 7th to Feb 14th. Please drop in regularly to leave love and see what else has been left.

How do I leave love for a character?
It's entirely up to you, but here are some examples, for your inspiration. So, for instance, if you're feeling a lot of love for Ron this week, go to his thread HERE and leave your contribution as a comment.

You could post explaining that you've always liked a man with a freckly arse. You could draw a sketch of Ron doing his bad-ass Auror thing. You could write a drabble featuring Ron just being Ron, a kinky PWP, or a 100k Gen rated kid!fic. You could cosplay as Ron and post a photo. Sculpt your interpretation of Ron's face in mashed potato. Or eat a bacon sandwich in his honour and then compose a haiku about how delicious it was. What about some Ron-centric recs? Ron icons, favourite quotes connected to Ron, a Ron fanmix, Ron's name written in fairy lights – if you can think of it, then DO IT.

Leave a description of your contribution in the subject line. Eg, RON: FANMIX, RON: HAIKU, or RON: DRABBLE or just RON: LOVE if it's just general love.

Commenting on other people's contributions, and general chit-chat, is firmly encouraged. Will this mean the threads get a little crazy? WHO KNOWS. :D

What is and isn't allowed?
You can write any pairing, or gen, any length, any genre, any rating. Please use warnings appropriately. Content does not have to be fluffy by any means, but character bashing would not be appropriate at this fest. If you have any doubts, just ask me or capitu.

I've written a 20k fic for the fest, is that OK?
:DDD OF COURSE. If there's anything that you want to host on your own journal, just leave the link in the comment thread.

I can't find a thread for Aunt Marge / Griphook / Trevor! Are only certain characters eligible for love?
Please check the masterlist first, HERE. I'll try to keep the masterlist updated as much as possible, but I do have to sleep and stuff, so please skim through the latest comment threads as well, to see if someone else has begun one for your character. If Aunt Marge or whoever has been cruelly neglected so far, please start your own thread, putting their name in the subject line.

As to who's eligible: EVERYONE. If they feature in the Harry Potter series, they qualify for the fest.

My fanwork deals with more than one character, where shall I put it?
GOOD QUESTION. Did you feel inspired with love for one of the characters more than the others, perhaps? If not... if it's a pairing fic, say Neville / Luna, you could post it on Neville's thread, and leave a link to it on Luna's thread. If it's, say a drawing of the Lestranges, start a thread titled “The Lestrange family” and put it on there. If you still don't know where to put it, just ask me or capitu, or just do something different entirely, if you like; we won't shout at you.

Am I only meant to leave love for my favourite character?
No! Leave love for as many people as you like! You have the whole week to shower as many HP characters as you wish with love. You could even challenge yourself and try to appreciate a character you haven't really given much thought to before.

Thank you for being such a darling owl to Harry, for listening to him jibber at you when you probably just wanted to eat your owl treats in peace, for not dropping his parcels on his head, for not doing your business down his back (or in his food) and for being a loyal friend to a little boy that did not have any at first.

Most of all, thank you for not flying away and for staying with Harry until the very end. I offer you a delicious little field mouse as thanks.

Dear Molly,

Well, you've got your hands full don't you? With a number of children that probably had you pulling your hair out. You are fierce and, though a little hot tempered (who wouldn't be with so many sons?), you are loving and there doesn't seem to be an end to that love. You welcomed Harry into you home and your family and you were a mother to him. You would do anything for your family, even Arthur and his Muggle obsessed self, and no one can stand in your way when you you've put your mind to something. Your family would find themselves at a loss without you and for all your love and hard work I think you need a day off, have some Molly time.

What would you do you ask? Go to a spa! How would you do that? Well I've taken care of that, here you go.

Dear Arthur,

Like Molly you've got a number of children, you've got a job that you love but that is underrated and you have supported those you love throughout the years. You've even been there for Harry, silent compared to Molly but there for him none the less. With all of the things going on in your life it's not surprising that you're going to have a kooky hobby that makes everyone think you're a little barmy .I don't judge you for getting a bit overexcited about it. That's fine. It's your escape from all the difficulties and worries. It's your you time.

Now, since Harry and Hermione can't possibly answer all your questions I think I'll give you this to read in your spare time (don't let Molly get cross with you for bringing it to dinner or something).

Gosh, how much would he love this? I adore Arthur's interest in Muggle things. It's so quirky, and makes him seem a bit daft in some ways, but I find his passion really charming. I think we can all relate to someone who's a bit geeky and obsessive about their interests :D

Dear Hagrid,

You great giant you. Heart of gold, this one. You have such a kind disposition and you're loyal to those you call friends (regardless of species). You're passionate about what you do and I don't know that you've gotten as much respect as you should for it. I'm fairly sure you're the only person with enough respect for the creatures of the Forbidden Forest that they would let you pass through with relative ease. We could all take a page from your book and learn to respect others and their customs.

Now, I've a gift for you but maybe we should keep it a secret for now. I'm sure harry's probably asked someone about that Heir of Slytherin rubbish that happened and exonerating you of all charges. But since I've been dying for this to happen (and I'm sure you have too) let's get you a wand. And seriously, keep it on the down low until it's all sorted out. I know you can't keep a secret, but just this once do. I don't want them to take it away from you.

Draco threw himself into a seat beside Blaise and Millicent at their table in the library.

“I’ve come to say goodbye,” he announced dramatically.

“Oh Draco,” Millicent said sympathetically. “It’s only been a few days. Can’t you stick it out a little longer?”

“No,” Draco replied. “It was stupid of me to think I could come back here. Everything’s changed. This is no place for someone like me.”

“Don’t be so defeatist,” counselled Blaise.

“Did someone say something?” Millicent asked.

Draco just groaned. “I have to leave. I have to go at once, before I do something stupid. You’ve been here over a week, Millie. You could have warned me!”

“You knew it would be tough coming back, Draco. You can’t blame Millie for that,” said Blaise.

Draco pinched his temple between his two forefingers. “You don’t understand. I came back because mother convinced me that without a complete education I would have no chance of making a future for myself. But I can’t stay. Nothing makes sense any more. None of the values I hold dear are adhered to. The world has run mad!”

“Shhhh, Draco. Madame Pinch will throw us all out!” Millicent hissed.

Blaise rolled his eyes. “Is this because Neville Longbottom is head boy?”

“No. Ludicrous as that is, in the light of recent events … . Well, it makes a sort of sense.”

“Then what the fucks the matter?” Blaise sighed.

Draco takes a deep breath. “Weasley is fit.”

“But Draco,” said Millicent, “Ginny’s always been a very attractive girl. There’s no point getting upset about that now.”

“I don’t. Mean. Ginny,” said Draco in a pained whisper.

“Oh,” said Millicent.

“Oh,” said Blaise, with a smirk. “Do you mean …?”

“Don’t make me say it,” Draco groaned.

Blaise just smirked even more broadly. “I’m sorry Draco. I just don’t understand what your problem is?”

“My problem,” said Draco, his voice rising again, “is that Ronald Weasley, against all laws of decency, probability and reason, has turned out to be fucking gorgeous and I can’t stand it!”

“Oh, Draco.” Millicent patted his hands which were now tightly clasped before him on the desk.

“Well, you know that his brothers Bill and Charlie are supposed to be really hot and we all know that Ginny is very pretty, so it isn’t all that surprising.”

“But it’s Ronald Weasley,” Draco repeats plaintively. “Ronald. Weasley. Is jaw dropping. Mouth watering.” His voice drops to a whisper, “fucking hot, wet dream material.”

Draco suddenly stands up and flings his arms wide. “That’s it. Blaise, kill me now! I’ve got a boner for Ronald Weasley!”

“Quiet, Draco!” Millicent shushes fiercely. “Sit down!”

Draco crumples to his seat again. When he speaks again, his voice is high and quavering with constrained emotion. “He might be … he might be.” Draco bites his fist, struggling to control himself. “He might be hotter than me,” he squeezes out.

“Oh, Draco,” says Millicent again, rubbing small circles on his back. Blaise is biting his fist too, but for different reasons.

“I have to go, Mills. I have to go before Ronald Weasley sees me checking out his arse and I have to kill myself.”

“But would that be such a terrible thing, Draco? I mean,” said Millicent, warming to a theme, “how do you think he’d react?”

“He’d be horrified!” Draco replied.

“Really? As horrified as you are to find out that he is spectacularly, shaggably good looking?”
“Probably more,” said Draco.

“Well?” Millicent prompted.

“He would be utterly, brain meltingly appalled if he catches me ogling him.”

“He would probably feel like he maybe needs to leave Hogwarts. Or even kill himself?”

“And if I properly cracked on to him. Gave him the old Malfoy charm … .” Draco was nodding now.

“Atta boy, Draco!” Millicent applauded, punching him on the arm.

“Right!” Draco announced rising with alacrity. “I am off, in the spirit of healing and reconciliation, to put my best moves on Ronald, fucking, Weasley!” and Draco sashayed out of the library.

“You are a wicked, wicked woman!” Blaise said, admiringly.

Millicent just smiles an enigmatic, Slytherin smile.

I would love a ficlet of this! She should go with her daughter and daughters-in-law. Can you imagine Molly, Ginny, Fleur and Hermione sitting on a bench in the sauna?

She would be all, 'Oh my goodness!' and 'They asked me to take off my vest!'

I would definitely chip in for a fit masseur for Molly Weasley. If there is complimentary champagne on arrival, it'll probably help loosen her up a bit.
