There is still loads of time to take part if you fancy the idea of Rectober. Click on the banner for more info. Some participants are reccing five times a day, others are making one rec post during the month - there's no pressure.

I wasn't sure what I was going to rec today until I sat down to read the latest at [livejournal.com profile] hd_fan_fair. BEST. DAY. YET. Both the fic and the art are glorious. GLORIOUS I SAY. Have at them, if you haven't already.

Title: One Floo Over the Lovegood’s Nest
Author: anonymous
Book Title: Gilderoy Lockhart’s Guide to Household Pests
Rating: PG-13
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Summary: Harry is not terribly surprised that there are magical plumbers, chimney sweeps, and pest control men. He is surprised that one of them is Draco Malfoy. And that he’s bloody hot in a jumpsuit.
Word Count: 14,000

Why I liked it: So bloody funny. Plus Draco is too, too delicious in sexy overalls and boots. It's actually worth reading for the pest-control methods alone, but the romance is wonderful, saucy and cute and hilarious altogether. It left me both cackling and fanning myself - my favourite combination, really.

The second [livejournal.com profile] hd_fan_fair posting for the day was inspired by the same book, but a different prompt. The prompts are actually quite similar, but the two works are both wonderfully original and not at all repetitive. Except my new favourite thing is Draco as a pest controller :DD

Title: Keep Your Shirt On
Artist: anonymous
Book Title: Gilderoy Lockhart's Guide to Household Pests
Rating: PG
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, Ron/Hermione (but only suggested)
Summary: Harry inherits a house with too many pests, and Draco Malfoy is a young man with entirely too much time on his hands.
Medium: Pencil on paper

Why I liked it: Blimey, where to start? He's sarcastic, and haughty, and REFUSES to wear a shirt. Yup. That seems like a good place. Malfoy is Harry's new pest controller, only this time, instead of brawny in overalls, he's pointy and shirtless. Poor Harry. Good job Hermione has the perfect solution to get back at Malfoy *delighted sniggering*.

This MA's work gives me such pleasure. Her Harry and Draco are just getting more and more perfect every time, and I don't think I have ever seen her draw Harry so charmingly flustered, or Draco so deliciously sneery. As usual with this MA's art, a lot of the story is about things that are not said, but the glances and telltale expressions that reveal the characters desires and motivations. And the beautiful little touches that make you go back again and again for just one more look.
