hd_erised , which was a fantastic experience for me! Thanks so much to lq_traintracks who saved me from utter panics and made brilliant suggestions, bixgirl1 who was super-encouraging and helpful, who_la_hoop who gave me the title (without having read the fic, hah), and the mods, gracerene , dicta_contrion and firethesound , who not only picked a superb match for me, but were kind and patient and calm (to my face, at least) when I kept messing up and then was horribly late. You are all THE BEST.
Thank you also to everybody who has read and left comments already. After a year of being in a bit of a lonely place with fandom, it's been such a joy to share something with everybody!
I've decided the best summary would actually be a quote from one of8c 's comments:

I also need to mention, again, the asdfghjksdfghjkl art I got for my gift, Heat of the Moment, byisinuyasha , which has made me SO HAPPY and is an utterly breath-stealing moment of romance and desire. <3

If anyone is interested, I did actually write a fair bit of other stuff in 2018, but I kept fucking up, so none of it got finished or posted. First I signed up for the Harry Draco Big Bang, and wrote about 40k for that, and dropped out. I would like to think I'll finish that fic at some point, but who knows. I definitely bit off more than I could chew at the time. Then I got assigned the wonderful 8c for Erised, wrote about 45k for her, and had to ditch that initial attempt as I ran out of time. I feel I should probably have kept quiet about the Erised cock up, in a dignified fashion, but I mention it partly because I am determined to finish that fic this year. I think it will be about 60 or 70k long, and it's got, ooh, all kinds of terrible and lovely things in, starting with sex pollen, eeeeee!
