Something of a mixed bag (understatement)

I can't really post today without mentioning Britain leaving the EU. LJ is my happy place and I don't want to wallow too deeply in things here, but I'll just say a few words. I am gutted, angry, and also utterly ashamed of what has happened. I love being European, love our multi-cultural society, love the vibrancy and diversity of modern British culture. I'm not much of a traveller myself, but I hoped for my children that they would have freedom to travel, work and study in Europe. We have many friends here in Britain who came over from Europe and elsewhere in the world, and they are an important part of our lives. And now we find that 52% of voters chose this, out of ignorance, fear, hatred, bigotry and apparently in many cases as some kind of protest vote against the government? I can't actually take in the magnitude of this fuck up. I am appalled and I feel like I have betrayed my children by allowing this to happen to their country.
UGH I promised myself I wasn't going to cry about it any more today. SO. I shall move on. Two really excellent things I want to tell you about. Warning, you may get whiplash from the abrupt change in mood, haha.
So,
shiftylinguini and I have apparently been dreaming up a fairytale AU where Albus is a princess locked in a tower by Draco. You know, just in our spare time. Like you do. She is pretending it was my idea but I think you know her better than that. There is JOINT culpability here. Anyway, in this AU, Albus has the hair of a young Justin Trudeau, wears pretty princess dresses, and spends the days befriending woodland creatures and leaning out of the tower window moping and waiting for Draco to come and give him a good rogering plotting his escape. In some versions of the story Scorpius is a young stable boy who climbs up the tower and then assists with the rogering and rescues the Princess.
I, I mean, WE, may possibly have spent more time thinking about this than was strictly sensible.
But yesterday when I was in dire need of cheering up, the wonderful shifty brought Princess Albus to life, and he is more gloriously delicious than he was even in my head. I am SO HAPPY about it.
Title: Cheering up
Pairing/ character: Albus Severus Potter (implied Albus/Draco)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Albus is a mopey princess in a tower, the woodland creatures just want everyone to be happy, and I need no encouragement to draw a silly thing.
PLEASE go and tell her how lovely she is,and help me beg for a sequel where Draco comes in and does the ravishing.
And finally,
slythindor100 are running their annual drabble contest, and I strongly recommend you either sign up and have a go, or watch the comm so that you can enjoy all of the drabbles and vote each week. I can't take part this year as I competed last year, but I can't wait to read everything and enjoy the excitement of the contest. You can read all about it here and sign ups start TODAY at 3pm central time (9 pm British Summer Time).
