Hello, friends new and old. This is a meme so we can get to know each other a bit better (and, if last night was anything to go by, so that I have something entertaining to read at 4 am :-/) Come and comment here and I will ask you FIVE EXCITING FANDOMMY QUESTIONS. Probably.I might just ask dull stuff about your favourite cheese, or nosy things about your sex life
Or, if you are feeling shy, or are naturally the inquisitive type yourself, you can ask ME five questions.
IT'S VERY EXCITING. We can pretend we are in the Slytherin Common Room playing Truth or Dare. WHO'S GOING TO BE FIRST?

3) What was your favourite book / TV show / film (select as many as you like) when you were a child?
4) Name a character you wish more people appreciated. Why should we give them our love?
5) If you could only wear one colour for the rest of your life, what would it be?

3. TV: When I was a very little kid (pre-school age) I loved the Rescue Rangers so much that when my parents took my to Disney World and I "met them" (you know, the underage teenagers in silly costumes), I peed my pants. I honestly can't remember what books or movies I loved though.
4. PANSY PARKINSON. Because she's fabulous and I say so. But more seriously: because authorial bias and the internalized misogynistic projections of adolescent readers created a disproportional vilification of an otherwise rather innocuous character. Because male characters whose sins far outweigh those of a girl whose biggest crime was being a teenage girl are regularly lauded as anti-heroes and tortured souls, while JKR's "Let my daughters be Hermione Grangers and not Pansy Parkinsons" quote get plastered on graphics and posted ad nauseum on fansites. Because there are literally no other female Slyterins during Harry's entire six years at Hogwarts that have lines. Because what she said in the Great Hall was perfectly reasonable from her perspective, yet somehow more unforgivable than her boyfriend's thrice failed attempt at murder. Because fandom character bashed her for years until PLOT TWIST Draco married someone else and she was no longer the obstacle towards their OTPs happy ending. Because we're lecture by JKR over and over again in interviews about how its more important that you're a good person on the inside than a pretty person on the outside, yet the only canonical physical description we get about Pansy is how ugly she is. Because it's accepted in fanon that she has a slick black bob haircut and slick black bobs are my favorite haircuts and forever chic but I can never have one because my hair is too coarse and curly. Because she was the leader of her "gang of slytherin girls." Because she cried when her friend was attacked by an animal. Because she pretended not to like unicorns when really she did. Because so-called "mean girls" need love too. (I have very strong Pansy Parkinson feels, if you haven't noticed).
5. Black. 75% of my wardrobe is already black and it never goes out of style.

Date: 2013-01-21 08:29 pm (UTC)I am sure you WOULD be able to get DanRad to do whatever you wanted, of course.
I used to wear all black, then I hit 37 and realised it was making me look like a lukewarm corpse. I am 41 now and still struggling with withdrawal symptoms.
