I looked it up at HP Wiki, though TBH I don't trust that site at all as they use things like video games as if it's canon. But it says when it's inactive it's red, black when active, and fading to a scar post-Voldemort. I think the only part of that that actually appears *in* canon is the black, though. And the other descriptions are not cited.
I mean it says for inactive that it's a "faint mark" but "vivid red"--which to me seems strange. How can it be faint but vivid?
