Ahhh, I sort of dropped the ball with reccing. I've been all wrapped up in my [livejournal.com profile] hd_erised fic (finally fell in love with it *beam*) and didn't feel like reading much at all. A lot of what I read was mostly from other people's Rectober posts, though, so thank you very much indeed to all who provided me with great suggestions of what to read.

One of those was [livejournal.com profile] dicta_contrion, who recced this incredible glove kink fic by [livejournal.com profile] dulcemia. As the Hand, the Glove (H/D, NC-17, 3k) is quite astonishingly hot and beautiful. I think it's a gorgeous example of how to write really immersive, glorious kink!fic, and also have it be character-driven and affecting and not "just" a PWP.

The only thing I would change about it is the author's habit of. Breaking up a sentence to add weight to what she wants to say. I loved this technique, and the way it gives us insight into Harry's overwhelming desire and his fragmented thoughts, but I think it would have been more effective if it had been used more sparingly. But the whole thing just DRIPS with Harry's shame and desire and arousal and builds to a masterful *cough* climax.

And I finally read another fic at [livejournal.com profile] hd_fan_fair's Career Fair! I have shamefully failed to keep up with this fest. As soon as I've got erised in the bag I hope to catch up on some of the wonderful things I've seen whooshing past.

But meanwhile, if you have not already read Wish Upon a Star (As Dreamers Do) (H/D, PG-13, 27k), please rush to enjoy this absolutely charming, delightful, funny and clever and surprising gem of a fic. [livejournal.com profile] capitu said she was smitten with this fic, and I think that's the perfect word for it - so perfectly romantic and heart-burstingly gorgeous, without being sickly.

I have been utterly spoiled at Career Fair for art, and the latest two drawn for my prompts were so wonderful. COMICS! I got two comics!

In Decorative, Draco is a museum attendant who dresses up in historical costumes for the benefit of visitors. You just have to see him in all the amazing outfits. My god, the Mystery Artist has outdone herself here! I'm so thrilled I tempted her with my ludicrous excuse for multiple costume changes! And Harry is no less charming, with Lily hanging off his arm and Albus looking the other way. I can't quite tell whether the kids have dragged Harry to the museum, or vice versa, but it's a gorgeous portrait of a family excursion. I won't spoil the outfits or the ending for you, but suffice to say that the author filled my request for crossdressing most admirably. ♥

And then, oh, man, High Voltage. I'm so happy it's even called High Voltage. I took this ridiculous prompt from the Electric Six song, and the Mystery Artist has transformed it into something hilarious and wonderful. Draco is irresistible here, with his eccentric jacket, his endless irritation with Harry, and his marvellous Arse of Glory, which literally makes things catch fire.  ♥

Please let me know if you enjoyed any of these (if you have time after leaving love for the authors and artists, of course ;-)) and, also, tell me what I should read next at Career Fair!

Oh, and there are still TWO WHOLE DAYS OF RECTOBER LEFT. So, if you signed up but never managed a post yet, there's still time! if you were aiming for 4 posts but only managed 3 *shifty eyes*, there's still time! If you've only just heard of Rectober, why not jump on board for the last 2 days?

BASICALLY JUST LET THE RECS POUR FORTH.  :DDD
