I agree it can be good to keep your RL name away from LJ. Your icon makes me smile when I see it!
My eldest can be a bit worst-case scenario-ish, and me too, I think. I say that I prefer to be pleasantly surprised when things go right, but I think it would really be better if I wasn't expecting things to screw up so often.
