So, my hd_erised gift posted and it was rather exciting. I think I actually won erised. That's totally how it works, yes?

Why I loved this: I know, I know, everyone recs their own gift, but, SERIOUSLY. Don't miss this one. It's utterly fabulous. Draco works in the Vanishing Department, which is like a sort of lost dogs' home for things that have been Vanished accidentally. And Harry... Harry has accidentally Vanished the entire contents of his house. THERE. Don't you want to read that, RIGHT NOW? I know I want to read it all over again, just thinking about it.

Apart from the world's most brilliant premise, this fic is also hilarious, witty, heart-twisty, and has the most deliciously innocent and eager Harry, and a toppy!Draco to die for. OMG HOT. SO HOT. So hot I actually got scared. It's seriously that hot, with no lie. I wondered if it was just so smoking hot in my opinion because it caters so beautifully for my kinks, but, no, when I looked through the comments, everyone there is also fainting and flailing and saying OMG SO HOT.

I want to say more, LOTS more, but I'd give all the best bits away, so please, just trust me and direct your eyes over there and enjoy it. I'm so super-delighted to get this as a gift I can't tell you. \o/

Another thing, you know those new Jonny Duddle covers for the books? I'm really quite a fan, but I hadn't seen the BACK covers. Look at this one for HBP!



God, I love it! It really works for me. He looks so full of bitterness and misery, but it's blazing with life as well. I love his challenging gaze, and his stance, and the billowing robes. I was intrigued by him clutching his forearm like that, and presumed it was to do with his Mark, so I googled and found this early sketch:



I found this interesting because IIRC, in canon we never actually have it confirmed that Draco is Marked? (Although events at Borgin and Burkes seem to make it pretty clear). It was obviously an important aspect of the character as far as the artist was concerned. He looks more aggressive in the sketch, would you agree, and more defensive in the final version? I'm also happy to see that Draco ended up looking more haunted and prettier in the final piece.

What do you think? Do you like it? I found it a pleasant distraction while waiting rather gloomily for JKR's promised thoughts on Draco over at Pottermore...

Omg. This is so GORGEOUS! I love it more than I can say right now. Draco is so perfect here. I really like the whimsical, cartoon quality. It just gives me so many HP feels.

YES! I've got such Draco feels. The characters are full of life and quirkiness and REALNESS in the new illustrations. I really love them.

That's totally how it works, and you've definitely won erised. I'm okay with that because the rest of us got to read your fabulous gift as well. I've actually read it twice now and still can't come up with anything more than keyboard flailing to say about it because, yes. Everything about it is just yes. It's one of those that I wish I could leave a million billion kudos for, but instead the author's just going to get an enormous flaily comment once I can read it without my brains melting from the hotness and the feels. <3

And speaking of keyboard mashing, that's more or less what I want to do with that picture of Draco. Exactly as you've said, it's so full of bitterness and misery and he's so haunted, and it's just so perfect. I now want to go roll around in all the angsty 6th year fic. Love how he's done there, all pointy and lanky and with his delicate wrist, and can we talk about the perfection of his hair in that picture? It's got a little more volume than I typically picture in my head, but I'm willing to make an exception because it's so damn pretty.

It's so unfair you can't just leave as much Kudos as you feel the author should have on each fic. I could have happily sat there for an hour or so going clicky clicky...

I'm in love with this Draco. I want to rescue him and boot him up the arse and get him to bum Harry, all at once. ♥ His hair is pretty much divine. And his frowny eyebrows! (dark eyebrows, though... I have reservations). I especially love his mouth which is just TOO miserable to be completely natural - he's miserable, and by god he wants everyone to know it :DD

All of that above!! I have the fic in a tab, partially read (I had no breaks at work other than lunch, so I couldn't get into a fic), and so far, I'm just DYING to read more.

Oh, and JKR confirmed that Draco did NOT have a mark. It was in a conversation with her editor that eventually made it into Lexicon ( I think it was Lexicon). He would have had one had he killed Dumbledore. But he didn't…

Oh I'm so glad to hear that! In my mind he didn't have a mark, but I thought maybe she'd said somewhere that he did. When you have a mark you have to go when Voldemort summons all Deatheaters, right? Which would have been a little awkward for him 6th year.

I can think of at least two occasions in the books where she distinctly hints at him having a Mark. I think it's rather disingenuous to do that if she didn't intend it to be taken at face value (*cough changedhermind *cough*)

Yup, you definitely hit the jackpot with that fic, it was all around fabulous! Though you can't leave more than one kudos, you can leave mini-squees at each chapter. SO much to love about that one. And the T-Rex pulp novel!

Yeah, I really like that illustration. Though my first thought was that he'd just punched someone and slightly sprained his wrist.

Stopping by to read your rec post and no, it's not just you. That fic is HOT. There are kinks in there I enjoy immensely but there are also kinks which I don't dislike but I'm never going to ask for them either. All together though they were hot as hell and I loved every single one.
