My husband is a secret slasher
Well, I think he might be. I've been chatting with him about fandom in general, and
hd_fan_fair's
H/D career fair, in particular, and after some spluttering, and more sardonic sniggering than was strictly necessary,
he began to come out with a stream of hilarious and / or very convincing prompts. Indeed I've selfishly saved one or two under mental lock and key, in case I ever magically gain the ability to write stories myself. The one about TreeSurgeon!Draco and all his hoists and harnesses is keeping me warm at night, for a start.
I did let him use one of 'my' prompt posts for the career fair, and he chose to have a miscast spell from Neville transform Harry and Draco into Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street. This was both appealingly cracky, and canonically sounder than I would have expected (the Neville bit, not the Sesame Street bit).
However, his latest idea has made me more than a little suspicious. It's just too good and makes me think he's been sneaking a look at my history folder and doing some reading of his own. He wants Harry in the John Travolta role from Grease, and "the other one" (he's not fooling anybody by casually pretending to forget Draco's name) as Sandy. Yes, Sandy, that girl from a good family, who falls for a boy from the other side of the tracks. Sandy, who has no luck pursuing the romance because his friends don't approve. <nod nod>. Who famously wears leather trousers in the last scene to grab the hero's attention.
I ask you, is that the kind of scenario your average heterosexual man would think of, unless he had a good working knowledge of fanon? Hmm? Hmm?
So it's obvious. My husband is a secret slasher. In fact I am starting to wonder if my husband might actually be
dysonrules. He just knows TOO MUCH.

*cough cough cough*
I mean, certainly not, what are you thinking? >.>
Just please don't ask Draco to sing. He really hates that.

But Kev's also definitely fandom aware, even if he's not into fanfic or anything. He laughs with me though when we see shows doing fanservice to the shippers who watch (like in Merlin, which SERIOUSLY is SO fan and slash aware).
That Grease scenario would be so much fun.

I did hear my husband explaining to someone the other day "ah, but Harry was nearly sorted into Slytherin, you see" - he absolutely listens in / looks over my shoulder, even while rolling his eyes about it.
