I notice young Mr Radcliffe has been quite busy of late. I will say up front that he is not my Harry, although I am terribly fond of the HP films. But he seems an absolute sweetheart, and unlike certain actors we know, whenever he opens his mouth (as himself) to speak about anything of note, something really fabulous usually comes out. I also thought he was actually bloody good in Kill Your Darlings.
Anyway, here are the trailers for his two latest films. What do you think? Will you be going to see either of these? He does seem to avoid with a vengeance the possibility of being typecast in his roles, and these two films seem in particular contrast. I can easily see him in a romantic comedy, being a sort of self-deprecating, funny, adorable chap, because I think that's who he actually IS. I'm not at all sure yet about seeing him with the US accent and the raunchy edginess of Horns. But I'm perfectly happy to be convinced.
Trailer for What If... Awkward jokes! Kooking around! Changing room shenanigans! Laughing at someone who fell out of a window!
Geeky note: The guy whose girlfriend Dan appears to be trying to steal (BAD Dan!) is played by Rafe Spall, Timothy Spall's son. An AU where Harry is in love with Peter Pettigrew's son's girlfriend, anyone? Er, perhaps not.

And, here's the trailer for Horns. Moodiness! Raunchy kissing! Laughing demonically at people fist-fighting! A pitchfork! A big fuck off snake!
(link here if the embedded video doesn't work)
I also heard that Dan had some fun going incognito at Comic-Con by wearing a Spiderman outfit and talking in a US accent. Quite a few people stopped and had their photo taken with him, not having a clue who was under the suit.

Mr Radcliffe! So mischievous! Can you imagine getting home and finding out on the internet who the friendly neighbourhood Spiderman actually was?

Oh, for God's sake, I really can't type today. Sorry about the million edits xD
OMG AGAIN! What am I doing? xD

He is TEENY WEENY. He's like a little pocket man.
I was really impressed with him as Ginsberg. I thought he did a lovely job. And looked deliciously sweet!

Both of those look really good, and if given a chance, I'll try to see both of them. Horns, looks especially intriguing.

I think he's super. He seems to have very sound views on things, and be genuinely interested in doing the right thing in life. And he comes across as modest, which is always sweet.

Dark and twisted is EXCITING. I think I like different things in films to fics, as well, although I am a bit of a wimp all round when it comes to horror and violence.

That said, I'm probably not going to go see What If, but Horns looks like everything. I love Joe Hill, though, so I'd see anything of his. :)

Eta: Horns!! I tried so hard to read that book once, but I lost interest. So weird that it's a movie now!
glad I'm not the only one that couldn't stomach Horns (apologies for the mini rant)
that and... other things, I'm not going to go into details because it would give me anxiety again. (i'm willing to elaborate on a pm so as not to sour the post more)
so yeah, Not looking forward to that coming out at all. I can't wait for it to come out then for it to go away so It's not keeping me on edge anymore.
(from what I seen from the reception it got in TIFF most people didn't liked it. [as in, Dan gets heaped on praises (althought the "Best role of his Career" is BS because Equus and Kill Your Darlings were 100% better) and that it's "visually beautiful" but the movie itself gets criticized A LOT for being choppy and all over the place and not coherent at all].
if we're going by horror I liked The Woman in Black way better and "Frankenstein" looks way more promising.

Re: glad I'm not the only one that couldn't stomach Horns (apologies for the mini rant)
to answer your question, From what I remember --Ig said that because the Horns were beginning to mess him up and really turning him bad and make him lose hope in people.
Also- SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
Re: glad I'm not the only one that couldn't stomach Horns (apologies for the mini rant)
I won't read the spoiler for now, because I think I'd like to watch this one, and I prefer not to know much about the story first, really. Thank you for putting it under a cut, that was very considerate.
And I'm sorry that talking about this upset you :(
Re: glad I'm not the only one that couldn't stomach Horns (apologies for the mini rant)
As much as I Hate the book/movie and wish people not go see it, that's bound to happen (probably one of the reasons why they chose to cast Dan and plaster his face all over the promotion of this- so his fans would all go see it *eyeroll* althought at least the big R rating will stop the large teen crowd from adding numbers to the viewageship [yes I know I'm being terribly petty- I just hate this book/movie that much)
But spoiling people would not only be a Mean thing to do (I'm angry at the author & the book/movie Not Dan or the people who read/see this, so taking out on them would be bad), it would get people upset at me and I don't want that.
I mean on top of me dumping a rant on here (which I hope you forgive me for)
yes, I don't think a book before this one has upset/mess me up this much in.... ever.
But at least, regardless of the author's credentials, this book/movie is sort of fad-y so it's not like it's going to go up in history as amazing piece of literature/cinema. people are probably going to forget about it soon.
(not like any of the author's father stuff, and Harry Potter/any of Dan's future projects is going to forever overshadow this so...)
and hey, at least now I have someone who I know that I can ask wether or not the awful awful stuff that upset me stayed in the movie, without actually seeing the darn thing. so there's that.
okay I'll stop now I promise. I don't want to sound bratty.
if anything, thanks for being open and understanding to let me talk about this.
It took a lot of weight off my chest. so thanks.
Re: glad I'm not the only one that couldn't stomach Horns (apologies for the mini rant)
I had no idea this could be a provoking subject, so I'm sorry to hear it stirred up a lot of issues for you.
Re: glad I'm not the only one that couldn't stomach Horns (apologies for the mini rant)
and don't feel bad- the movie is in full promotion all over the place and you like Dan and didn't know about how messy the book was- so how could you have known?
plus, other than you I haven't really talking about it with anyone- because I don't want people to think i'm being a drama queen.
but I'm all vent/rant-out. there's piling evidence that movie got toned wayyyyyy down so that's really lifted the weight off and I'm ready to move on.
(If annoyed you with it I'm really sorry & I also hope I didn't soured your post? :S )
(at least there's What If? & Frankenstein in the future too- when that comes out i'm more than happy to geek out over that. ;)

That's interesting you gave the book a try and didn't like it. The film looks like it could be fabulous or just pretentious, perhaps.
no subject
The book just got a little weird and uniteresting to me. But it was summer in New York and I was doing many other things and having crushes, so I might have been distracted :P
now What If on the other hand....
(I like the will they/won't they? thing of it and I really wonder if they'll get together in the end)
I think Dan has great potential as a romantic lead, and I hope it's not the last time he does a romantic-type movie.
(also he has really sweet chemistry with the actress that plays Chandry- who, in the spirit of making hp references (did not know timothy spall had a son?) she reminds me a bit of Luna Lovegood for some reason?
but yeah What If looks Great and I heard great things for the Premise of Frankenstein. (pity Tokyo Vice didn't fell through- that one sounded Awesome)
Dan dressed as spiderman made me smile a dork. (And I saw that video of Everyone in Hall H at comic-con singing him "Happy Birthday" and that was so sweet.
Re: now What If on the other hand....
Re: now What If on the other hand....
so I think he's not averse about doing romance it just has to be interesting and well done and not just the typical air-y romance.

Not sure that Horns is up my alley, but What If looks lovely and worth a watch. His press for it has been nice as well - I keep seeing him come out against the idea of the "friendzone," which, A+. And we really don't see to much of him as the romantic hero in HP. I'm intrigued!
no subject
Yes! How wince-making it would be if he slagged it off all the time, or even at all :(
Oh yeah!!!
I loved when every-interviewer asking the movie-related "so can guys & girls really be friends/and have you ever been friendzoned?" and Dan goes "friendzone is a horrible word that only resentful guys use when a girl won't sleep with them."
That just added to my list of things of "why Dan Radcliffe is awesome"

He's the most lovely thing ever. Every time I read an interview of him, I swear, he's the sweetest guy, only love him more and more.

I guess I'll give him a chance now :P

I saw the spidey stuff, and really just wanted to squish his cheeks. He can be my Harry - he's not exactly as I picture him but he does, sometimes, just make my Harry-muse heart swell I have to say. I think this is largely because I sometimes use fanvids for a muse kickstart when I'm struggling for stuff to write.
I'm particularly interested in What If... I think that looks great! <3
ETA: Were you going to do a Harry birthday thing, Birds? I know there was Draco stuff afoot, and wanted to have a Harry love-in on the 31 July on my LJ, but won't if something is in the works.

It's not that we don't adore Harry, but things did get a bit busy around here lately :D

And Dan dressed up as Spiderman!!!!!! God, he's fit!!!! :P
